Virgin Grand / Hillside Units
“Hillside” units are prized for their seclusion, peace and tranquility. Abutting a natural cliff wall, these units have the best view in all of the resort, and there are two private pools, one between each set of buildings. Parking is right outside the door, but the downside is these units are far from the main resort, so if the resort is your thing prepare for a hike, or call for a golf cart to come get you. These units are the oldest in the resort, built in 1997, and were actually built by another developer before being bought by Westin in 1999. As per the latest VSN Rules and Regulations Document, there are 68 units, spread among 4 buildings. With the refurbishment that Irma will no doubt necessitate, these units should be better than ever when WSJ reopens.
This Phase is fixed week/fixed unit. Although you can supposedly float *within your season* before the 8 month StarOption Reservation period, don’t count on being able to do this regularly, if at all. The best use of this Phase is always using your fixed unit/week.
Although Maintenance fees (MF) are high, with the recent bump in StarOptions, the Platinum Plus units can be cost effective when breaking down MF per point. The Virgin Grand Phase which includes the Hillside buildings and the Pool Villa buildings, are “Mandatory” in the SVN system, which means SVN MUST issue StarOptions to Resale purchasers (owners who bought from pre-existing owners, instead of directly from the Developer). This allows resale purchasers to access other resorts in the SVN network. But why would you want to?
